Following the unveiling of the Galaxy Ring at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, Nothing CEO Carl Pei made headlines by publicly reaching out to Samsung’s mobile boss TM Roh. Pei’s post on X (the platform previously known as Twitter), “TM Roh – call me if you need design help. We can accelerate our vision of making tech fun again!” sparked curiosity and conversation in the tech community.

Pei’s remark came in response to a marketing grab of the Galaxy Ring that said “feels like nothing, goes with everything.” The former OnePlus co-founder was in his element, quick on his feet to spot the word “nothing” in the promo and shared his views on Samsung’s maiden smart ring, while pushing his own company’s design philosophy and vision statement to make tech fun again. His reaction didn’t confirm or deny if he was impressed with the Galaxy Ring. Pei is known to post reaction/review videos on rival products and so, it would be interesting to see if he is planning something around Unpacked.

The Galaxy Ring is designed for comprehensive, 24/7 health monitoring using Samsung’s proven sensor technology. Weighing between 2.3 and 3.0 grams, it is lightweight and comfortable for extended wear. The ring features a distinctive concave design, 10ATM water resistance, and a Titanium Grade 5 finish, ensuring durability and style. It offers up to seven days of battery life, with a specialised charging case that includes LED indicators for charging status. The Galaxy Ring is available in three colours—Titanium Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Gold—and comes with a sizing kit to ensure the perfect fit.

“The latest additions to our wearables portfolio integrate Samsung’s most advanced technologies and innovations, enabling you to take control of your health and wellness with preventative healthcare solutions,” Roh said in a newsroom post announcing the Galaxy Ring. “The intelligence, guidance, and insights that are offered with Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Watch Ultra will help users turn data into meaningful insights and create a whole new era of expanded intelligent health experiences,” he added.

Galaxy Ring: Advanced health features powered by Galaxy AI

The Galaxy Ring integrates advanced technology to provide holistic insights into users’ health, Samsung claims. It supports around-the-clock monitoring, with all data seamlessly integrated into Samsung Health. This includes sleep analysis with metrics such as movement during sleep, sleep latency, and heart and respiratory rates offering detailed insights into sleep quality. The ring also includes Cycle Tracking for menstrual cycle monitoring.

Furthermore, Galaxy AI can generate detailed health reports for Galaxy Ring users. It also enables a new Energy Score feature to help users understand how their health affects their daily life by evaluating factors such as sleep, activity, and heart rate variability.

The Galaxy Ring also supports broader wellness monitoring, including Heart Rate Alerts for real-time notifications of unusual heart rates. Users can access detailed heart rate information and benefit from features like Auto Workout Detection and Inactive Alerts to maintain an active lifestyle. Additionally, the ring supports gesture controls for taking photos or dismissing alarms, and Find My Ring functionality via the Samsung Find app.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is priced at USD 400. India price and availability are yet to be announced.
