Soon you might be able to chat with AI in WhatsApp as the company reportedly plans to bring Meta AI voice mode feature. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a feature where you can voice chat with AI.
The new feature is expected to allow you to have a two-sided conversation with artificial intelligence (AI). WABetaInfo also suggested that the feature can provide you with voice options to choose from.
WhatsApp to get AI voice mode
On August 13, WABetaInfo wrote in its official blog that WhatsApp will roll out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program. It will be updating the version up to 2.24.17.16. But what’s new in this update? The report further explained that WhatsApp is working on adding the Meta AI voice, and this will be available in a future update. In addition to this it also mentioned that the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.17.16 update is available on the Google Play Store. Moreover, it claimed that they have discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to add the Meta AI voice mode.
The blog further mentioned that this feature will allow you to engage with Meta AI in real-time through normal conversations as we do daily. Just like talking to a person in your workplace or a random person you meet, but with a machine because its AI.
This feature has the potential to enhance the speed and natural flow of interactions. However, the voice chat mode is still at its early stage and needs development. It looks like WhatsApp is currently in the process of improving this feature before it plans to release it officially.
What’s new
But how will the feature work after getting rolled out publicly? According to some screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, here’s how the feature works:
- A new voice icon (looks like an audio waveform)can be seen next to the text field in the ‘Meta AI chat.’
- By clicking on that a bottom sheet with Meta AI written on top of it the icon appears.
- In the middle, you can also see a circular shape created by multiple bubbles.
- At the bottom, you can see an expanded audio wave like icon. The icon has a text next to it “Hi, how can I help”
Furthermore, the Meta AI voice mode might provide you with 10 different voices to choose from. Also they might have different tones, accents and energy levels, among others.
The way ahead
A few days back WhatsApp allowed users to interact with the chatbot through voice messages. This new feature was available only for a selected group of beta testers on Android. However, the voice feature was limited to a one-sided conversation. For example you can command in voice but get answers in text only. Now with 2.24.17.16. version you can expect to get answers in voice mode.
