WhatsApp will soon allow you to edit/delete contacts from any device. Yes you heard it right! Now you can manage your WhatsApp contacts from any device. In an official blog WhatsApp announced that it will bring a new feature that allows you to add/delete contacts without the need of a phone. Let’s have a look how this update can change the way you WhatsApp!

Manage WhatsApp remotely

WhatsApp is bringing a new feature that will allow you to add and manage your contacts directly from any device. As of now it will be available in WhatsApp Web and Windows. This new update eliminates the role of a phone to save contacts in WhatsApp. You can just directly save contacts in WhatsApp.

Usually you can use WhatsApp either by scanning the QR code in WhatsApp web or logging in into the WhatsApp android version. But this does not allow you to manage contacts present in your phone. Also, you need to save contacts in your phone first to get them in WhatsApp. But now you can manage contacts just by using your keyboard on WhatsApp web! You don’t need to save the contacts in your phone. This feature aims to bring a more flexible approach for users.

The way ahead

So, what does the new update bring to you? Here’s how you can be beneficial with the new update! Imagine you are traveling and your phone goes dead in the middle of saving an important number. You don’t need to panic now, you can just use WhatsApp web and save the contact using your keyboard! Sounds great right!

But who can be beneficial with the update? Enlisted below are the users who best suit for this ‘remote accessibility’ of WhatsApp:

  • Someone who always shares their phone with someone else.
  • If you are someone who manages both work and personal WhatsApp accounts on the same device.
  • Someone who wants separate contact lists.
  • In case you lose your phone or switch to a new device. With the feature your ‘WhatsApp-exclusive’ contacts will be restored automatically.

In addition to this, WhatsApp plans to introduce usernames, so users can add and chat with people without sharing their phone number. This feature aims to enhance privacy and personalization. WhatsApp has always been known for the level of personalisation it aims to bring. These upcoming features are also a contribution to its goal of bringing personalisation to its users. Another recent example could be a new update, with which you can create personalized lists directly from your chat list, as reported by WABetaInfo. This allows you to filter and showcase specific group chats and contacts.
