WhatsApp might soon remind you about the messages you have not read. As reported by WABetaInfo , the messaging app will bring some interesting updates to enhance your experience.  The  new development can bring a feature made to notify you about unread messages. Also, the new update can notify you about unseen Status updates. Let’s have a detailed look at what the update has to offer!

Get notified about unread messages

According to WABetaInfo, the new update introduces notifications to alert users about missed  status updates and messages. Notably, WABetaInfo is a website which tracks developments related to WhatsApp. The new reminder feature is now available for testing in the beta version of the app for Android. As of now, it is included in WhatsApp beta version 2.24.25.29 for Android.

The report further  explained that the new update will use an internal algorithm that can prioritize notification. These are based on who you interact with more. The algorithm highlights the most contacted person making it sure that you get notified about their messages first. Same goes for the status. You get notified about the status given by your most/top interacted contacts.

However, this data is based on recent interactions and it’s not stored for future. This means that the ‘priority treatment’ is temporary and can change as per your interaction pattern. For example, in case you reinstall WhatsApp, your ‘priority’ notifications and status will change.

Other updates

As the update is only available for Beta testers, you can see the update by joining the WhatsApp beta programme. In addition to this, you should also make sure that you have updated your Google Play store.

In other news WhatsApp will also introduce a new sticker-sharing feature. This feature will allow you to send entire sticker packs in a single step. As reported by WABetaInfo, this update is available on both Android and iOS platforms. As of now the update is a part of the WhatsApp version 24.24.83 on iOS and will be gradually rolled out to more users soon.
