WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will enhance security during calls. According to WaBetaInfo, the website that tracks all WhatsApp-related updates, the chat app is rolling out a new feature that will shield your IP address and location from potential malicious users.
Currently in beta testing on Android and iOS, one can find this feature in a new “Advanced” section under the privacy section. This section has an option to protect the IP address when on the call. This option makes it much more challenging for others on the call to figure out your location since the data travels through WhatsApp’s servers for additional security.

However, this heightened privacy can impact call quality, warns WhatsApp under the option. This is due to the encryption and routing processes involved. So, in simple terms, this feature adds an extra layer of anonymity to your calls, protecting your location, but it might make your calls a bit slower.
WhatsApp is also said to be working on a revamped interface for its Android app. The company is set to introduce it to a select group of beta testers through the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.23.21.12 update which is available on the Google Play Store. The upcoming design will include new colours and icons for a more visually appealing experience. Separately, it is also said to bring a new group chat event system designed as a built-in reminder for community group chats.
