Truecaller has finally launched a web-based client of its popular caller ID mobile application. The client, simply called Truecaller for Web, works in a similar fashion to WhatsApp for web allowing users to link their mobile to a PC and access features of the app including real-time caller ID on their desktop.
Truecaller says the web client will be initially available to users in India before a gradual rollout to other markets. The reasoning is that India is its biggest market with roughly about 259 million users. The feature will be available only to Android users at the time of writing. Also, only one session per user will be allowed and Truecaller will automatically sign you out after 30-days if you are inactive (you can sign out manually any time, just like WhatsApp).
Truecaller for Web— full details
The process of linking devices to the web client on Truecaller is similar to WhatsApp. You scan a QR code to establish a connection between your Android device and PC or Mac.
— Open Truecaller on your Android phone
— Go to Messages and tap the three dot menu
— Select Truecaller for Web > Link Device
— Capture the QR code shown on this screen
As for functionality, the client will offer SMS and chat mirroring, call notifications, and a seemingly robust phone number search capability so you’ll be able to search who called you or lookup a random number without any rate limits.
Additionally, real-time caller ID notifications will be displayed when users receive calls, like the app.
In addition to these enhancements, Truecaller is also doubling down on its commitment to incorporating AI-powered features into its platform. Recent updates include the introduction of the “Max” feature, enabling Android users to block calls from unapproved contacts or AI-detected spam. Truecaller has also introduced call recording and AI-powered transcription features in India.
