The Xiaomi 14 launching in India today is Xiaomi’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy S24. Spec-by-spec it seems to have been designed to not only rival the Samsung Galaxy, but give it a run for its money. Being a Xiaomi phone, the 14 also costs less money. A version with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage will sell for Rs 69,999 (the S24 doesn’t even have a 12GB RAM variant and starts at Rs 79,999 for 8GB/256GB).
The 14 is a flagship phone through and through unlike most flagship phones it’s a bit more compact and easier to lug around (though not as much as the S24, which is even smaller). It has a 6.36-inch 12-bit LTPO AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate. The panel can peak 3,000 nits and supports Dolby Vision playback. It is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus.
Powering the Xiaomi 14 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a 4,610mAh battery with 90W fast wired, 50W wireless and 10W reverse wireless charging. Running the show is Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android 14.
For photography, the Xiaomi 14 has a trio of 50-megapixel sensors on the back behind Leica Summilux lenses— f/1.6, f/2.0 3.2x telephoto, and f/2.2 ultrawide. The phone is capable of recording videos up to 8K@24fps including Dolby Vision HDR. On the front, it has a 32-megapixel camera.
The Xiaomi 14 has a back panel made of glass and frame made of metal. The chassis is IP68 rated. It will come in a choice of green, black, and white colours. Connectivity options include NFC, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4.
The Xiaomi 14 will be available starting March 11.
