Sony has introduced its latest flagship wireless headphones, the WH-1000XM6, in India. Developed in collaboration with renowned recording studios—Sterling Sound, Battery Studios, and Coast Mastering—these headphones aim to deliver studio-grade audio performance while offering enhanced noise cancellation, immersive 360 Reality Audio Upmix for Cinema, and several new smart features.

Priced at Rs 39,990, it will be available in Black, Platinum Silver, Midnight Blue colour options. The WH-1000XM6 is now available across India at Sony Center outlets, on the ShopatSC website, via Amazon, and at select retail chains like Croma and Reliance Digital.
Sony WH-1000XM6: Key Upgrades and Features
The WH-1000XM6 is powered by Sony’s new HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3, which Sony claims is seven times faster than its predecessor. It leverages real-time input from 12 microphones to boost both noise cancellation and audio clarity. Users also benefit from a new Adaptive NC Optimizer and an enhanced Auto Ambient Sound mode, which intelligently adjusts audio based on the surrounding environment.
A Scene-based Listening feature automatically adapts playback and noise cancellation according to the user’s activity and surroundings.
For audio quality, the headphones feature a high-rigidity carbon fibre composite dome and a redesigned voice coil, delivering richer vocals and better instrument separation. They support High-Resolution Audio, both wired and wireless, with LDAC compatibility, while Sony’s Edge-AI and DSEE Extreme technologies upscale compressed tracks in real-time. Additional features include Background Music Effect, Game EQ, and 360 Reality Audio Upmix for Cinema, creating a truly immersive experience for music and movies alike.
On the call front, Sony has incorporated a six-microphone beamforming array with AI-powered voice isolation, combined with proprietary voice pick-up technology, ensuring clear and focused conversations even in noisy environments.
In terms of design, the WH-1000XM6 debuts a wider, pressure-free vegan leather headband with an asymmetrical design to easily distinguish left from right. The earcups use stretchable materials to form a tight seal, blocking external noise, while metal-injected folding hinges improve durability and portability.
