Sony is slashing the price of the PlayStation 5 Slim game console in India by a whopping Rs 5,000, less than a month after launch. The company has announced a limited period, limited quantity “Summer sale” offer on the newly launched PS5 Slim (CFI-2008A01, CFI -2008B01 models) starting from May 1.
Sony is currently running a Summer Promo sale on the original PlayStation 5, offering the standard edition with disc-drive for Rs 10,000 less while PS5 bundles are selling with whopping Rs 13,000 discount. The offer will end on April 30 and, from May 1, Sony will put up the PS5 console on sale with up to Rs 5,000 discount. There’s never really been a better time to buy one of these consoles in India.

A promo image shared by Sony on email confirms the Rs 5,000 discount on the PS5 Slim model with disc-drive. The said model has an original price of Rs 54,990 but it will sold for Rs 49,990 (which is actually the price of the digital model) from May 1 through May 14. At the time of writing, it isn’t immediately clear if the digital PS5 Slim will be available with some sort of discount during the summer sale window.
Sony notes that the offer will be available cross Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Centre, Vijay Sales and other participating retailers.
What is PS5 Slim?
The PlayStation 5 Slim is essentially the mid-cycle refresh of Sony’s flagship PS5 console. As you can probably tell from the name, it’s a scaled down version, with up to 30 percent smaller footprint, without any change in the underlying hardware. The slim model also comes with a couple of quality of life improvements including 1TB storage and two USB Type-C ports.
Sony is expected to phase out the original PS5 once the inventory is fully exhausted after which the slim will be its main console.
