Samsung is set to kick off 2025 with its highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for January 22 in San Jose. As has been the case with the last few launches, artificial intelligence (AI) or Galaxy AI will be a big focus area with Samsung promising a “more natural and intuitive experience” that could redefine everyday interactions and make it all come together on the “new Galaxy S series.”
The spotlight will be on the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, rumoured to feature three models: the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and the flagship S25 Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked January 2025 event details
Expected upgrades include enhanced AI capabilities, improved performance courtesy Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite and Samsung’s One UI 7, and sleek designs. According to leaks, the Galaxy S25 series will be priced starting at USD 799 (around Rs 67,000) for the base S25, USD 999 (Rs 84,000) for the S25 Plus, and USD 1,299 (Rs 1,10,000) for the Ultra. Samsung is also working on a Galaxy S25 “slim” model, according to reports, but we may not hear much about it at the Galaxy Unpacked January 2025. Maybe it will come later.
In addition to smartphones, Samsung is expected to preview its ambitious XR (Extended Reality) headset, codenamed Project Moohan. This device is rumoured to feature advanced displays, passthrough technology, and support for multi-modal input, allowing users to seamlessly blend the physical and digital worlds. If these features deliver as promised, Samsung’s XR headset could position the company as a serious contender in the competitive AR/VR market, alongside tech giants like Apple and Meta.
Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked events are known for setting industry trends, and this year’s focus on AI and immersive technologies signals the company’s commitment to innovation. Whether through advanced AI integration in smartphones or its first major step into extended reality, Samsung will be looking to make a comeback after reporting lacklustre sales of the Fold 6 and Flip 6.
