Samsung has announced the Galaxy Z Fold 7 as its latest foldable flagship phone. The device, which was revealed at the Galaxy Unpacked event in the US, has taken a step forward for the foldable device, which is currently in its seventh generation iteration. Unlike the previous years, the emphasis is a slim and lightweight chassis for the Fold 7, aiming to make it a lot easier to use. The slimness has led to side effects though, with the major omissions being the lack of S Pen support and the under-display video call camera.
Before taking a look at the features and specs, here is a look at the prices and memory configurations.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Specs and features at a glance
The focus for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is slim and lightweight. The Fold 7 weighs 215 grams, which makes it even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It measures a mere 8.9 mm thick when folded and an astonishing 4.2 mm thick when unfolded. The device incorporates a restructured hinge and foldable display. The Armor FlexHinge is thinner and lighter, utilising an enhanced water droplet design and a new multi-rail structure to reduce visible creasing and strengthen durability. The cover display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, while the frame and hinge housing are reinforced with Advanced Armor Aluminum, increasing strength and hardness by 10%. The main display now features a Titanium plate layer and a 50% thicker Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) for enhanced toughness.
The Fold 7 features a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display with a new 21:9 aspect ratio. When unfolded, the 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display transforms into an expansive workspace, with up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness. The Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor offers up to 41% performance boost in NPU, 38% in CPU, and 26% in GPU compared to the previous generation Fold 6.
As far as the camera system is concerned, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 features a 200MP wide-angle, promising to captures 4x more detail and 44% brighter images. This is accompanied by a 10MP 100-degree camera on main display. The rest of the camera setup remains similar to Fold 6. With a helping dose of Galaxy AI features that allows photo editing, portrait studio mode, suggestive erases and an upgraded audio eraser, the experience is promises to be nicer.
With the new One UI 8 on Android 16, the Fold 7 promises to offer a more intuitive and immersive way to interact with AI. There’s deeper integration with Gemini AI and Google’s Circle to Search feature. Features like AI Results View (Split View or Floating View) and Drag and Drop AI-generated content (images and text) directly from Multi Window enhance productivity.
