Samsung Electronics is set to hold an Unpacked event on July 10 in Paris, where it will unveil its latest Galaxy AI-powered foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 according to a new report. The new report corroborates a previous report that pegged a similar timeline for Samsung’s next Unpacked event.

The launch is strategically timed to align with the Paris Olympics, which begins on July 26, the Chosun Daily said in its latest report. Sam mobile has previously tipped an early July launch window as well. Traditionally, Samsung has launched its Galaxy Z series foldables in August, with last year’s event taking place on July 26 in Seoul.

This year’s earlier release in Paris is reportedly part of Samsung’s strategy to reclaim its position as the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer by shipment volume, a title it lost to Apple last year for the first time in over a decade. Samsung’s dominance in the foldable phone market has also been challenged by Chinese competitors like Huawei, Xiaomi, and Oppo:

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will reportedly boast of new AI features and improvements in weight and thickness over their predecessors.

In addition to the new foldable phones, Samsung is also expected to debut a bunch of new wearable devices at the Unpacked event. This includes the Galaxy Ring, a smart ring that measures various health metrics. The Galaxy Watch 7, featuring the second-generation 3nm Exynos W1000 chip, is also on the cards. A new high-end Galaxy Watch model designed for outdoor activities is also expected to be introduced. Furthermore, the Galaxy Buds 3 wireless earphones will get their first major redesign since 2019, the same report adds.

In related news, Vivo is gearing up to launch its first foldable—Vivo X Fold 3 Pro—in India on June 6, 2024. It, too, will come with generative AI features powered by Google’s Gemini AI.
