Samsung on Thursday debuted the second generation of Galaxy SmartTag. Samsung Galaxy SmartTag comes as a successor to the previously launched Galaxy SmartTag in January 2021 during the Galaxy Unpacked event. It is scheduled to go global next week on October 11. Notably, it competes with Apple AirTag.
Galaxy SmartTag 2 keeps the favourite features of SmartTag and SmartTag+. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy and UWB, using AR Find to guide users visually with their Samsung Galaxy smartphone camera. It has a 120-meter Bluetooth range and can control smart home devices via the SmartThings app. And, above all, it boasts up to 700 days of battery life.
The price announced for Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 is $29.99 with US availability starting October 10. The Indian pricing will be released moments before the global release. However, one thing that Samsung hasn’t changed yet is its Samsung exclusivity. This may be an attempt to make things great for its Android as well—just like Google Pixel.
Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 comes in a ring-shaped design—opposing to the rectangular yet soft-edged corners of previous models—with IP67 water and sun resistance and a 120-meter Bluetooth range. Samsung’s latest smart tag also introduces a Lost Mode with contact info retrieval via text message, usable on all devices with NFC and a web browser, making it an ideal choice for tracking items or pets.
