Reliance Jio has addressed the confusion surrounding the validity of its Rs 349 prepaid plan. The telecom giant recently posted a tweet confirming that the plan maintains a 28-day validity, contrary to some media reports suggesting it had been extended to 30 days.

The misunderstanding originated from a previous Jio tweet marketing the Rs 349 plan, where it was described as having a “1-month validity.” This phrasing led many to believe that Jio had increased the plan’s validity from 28 days to 30 days, presumably in response to customer feedback. However, the original tweet made no such mention of any changes.

Verification checks on both the My Jio app and the Jio website confirm that the Rs 349 plan continues to offer 28 days of validity. As of now, there have been no alterations to the plan’s duration. Any future updates to this plan will be promptly reported.

Currently, the Rs 349 plan provides users with 2GB of 4G data per day, unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. It also serves as the most affordable plan granting access to Jio’s unlimited 5G service. Before July 3, the unlimited 5G benefit was available with plans as low as Rs 239. However, with the recent tariff hike, Jio not only increased the price of the Rs 239 plan but also removed the unlimited 5G benefit from it. Now, only plans offering 2GB/day data or more qualify for the unlimited 5G perk.

In related news, Jio has reintroduced its Rs 999 prepaid plan after the tariff hike had raised its price to Rs 1,199. The key update to the Rs 999 plan is its extended validity, which now spans 98 days, up from the previous 84 days. This extension provides users with an additional 14 days of service. However, the total data allocation has been reduced. The plan now offers 2GB of data per day, totaling 192GB over the entire validity period, compared to the previous 3GB per day, which amounted to 252GB.

Despite the reduction in daily data, the Rs 999 plan retains the perk of unlimited 5G data. This change appears to be Jio’s strategy to balance the extension of service days with a reduction in daily data provision, while still offering the unlimited 5G benefit to users.
