In a candid conversation about how success and fame affect relationships, Boat co-founder and ‘Shark Tank India’ investor Aman Gupta has opened up about his personal challenges after the rise of Boat – a homegrown technology accessories brand. The founder, whose net worth is estimated at over Rs 700 crore, has said that success has altered his relationships and how he is perceived by those around him.
Speaking on “The Great Indian Kapil Show,” Gupta shared that while he was always confident in his own worth, the public recognition has brought an unexpected side effect — judgment. In a clip from the show, he explained that friends and family often comment that he has “become a big man,” a statement that Gupta says reflects a shift in their perception of him.

Despite the fame and the complexities it brings along, Gupta remains grounded, crediting his mother’s wisdom for keeping him humble. He recounted her advice that even great pride, like that of the mythological figure Ravan, does not last. She reminded him that a person’s downfall begins when success goes to one’s head. Gupta says that this lesson helps him navigate the pressures of his public life.
Gupta, who has become a well-known name beyond the business world after his participation in “Shark Tank India”, was quick to share a humorous take on the show’s other participants. Gupta commented that his research and development team at Boat uses the “iconic, boisterous laughter” of actress Archana Puran Singh to test their new range of noise-cancellation headphones.
The actress was quick to make a comeback, suggesting that she wants a stake in the company, considering her contribution. The host, Kapil Sharma, added to the laughter, suggesting that she and her husband will receive a pair of Boat’s headphones each.
On the sidelines…
Boat, which has made its name in India’s low-cost tech accessories product range with smart wearables and audio products, has been actively expanding its footprint and product portfolio. The company recently marked a milestone with its official entry into the UAE market in July 2025, a move that is part of a broader expansion into the GCC region. This global push is supported by a shift toward local manufacturing, with approximately 70 per cent of Boat’s products now being assembled in India.
