Redmi 13 5G, the new affordable 5G phone from Xiaomi, has officially arrived in India today. The Redmi 13 5G which is a follow-up to last year’s excellent Redmi 12 5G brings quality-of-life improvements in areas that matter instead of going for an all-out overhaul. Xiaomi in fact is so confident about it, it’s not launching a 4G variant this time round.
Redmi 13 5G: Specs, features
The Redmi 13 5G echoes the design of its predecessor, the Redmi 12 5G. The new model features a back panel made of unspecified “crystal glass” and is available in Hawaiian Blue, Black Diamond, and Orchid Pink. The Hawaiian Blue variant, which Xiaomi sent us for review, boasts wavy patterns similar to those on Vivo’s V30 series.
The front of the Redmi 13 5G is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and it sports a 6.79-inch 1080p LCD display, now upgraded to a 120Hz refresh rate compared to the Redmi 12’s 90Hz. Xiaomi claims the screen can reach 550 nits in high brightness mode, though it lacks HDR support. Widevine L1 certification is included for high-definition streaming. The phone retains noticeable bezels, typical for budget devices.
Under the hood, the Redmi 13 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, branded as an “accelerated edition” for enhanced performance. It comes in two configurations: 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB. Notably, it is the first in its series to launch with Xiaomi’s HyperOS software, promising a 36-month lag-free experience. The phone is eligible for two major OS and three years of security updates.
The camera system has seen significant upgrades, featuring a 108-megapixel Samsung HM6 main sensor with 3x in-sensor zoom and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The front camera has also been enhanced to 13 megapixels. Both cameras are limited to 1080p video recording at 30fps.
Additional features include a headphone jack, IR blaster, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The device is powered by a 5,030mAh battery with 33W fast charging, and a compatible charger is included in the box. The phone lacks dual speakers.

The Redmi 13 5G comes in a choice of 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB at a suggested price of Rs 13,999 and Rs 15,499 respectively. General availability is pegged for July 12.
