Realme has announced its next phone, Realme 12x 5G, will launch in India on April 2, 2024. As the name suggests, the Realme 12x will be a more affordable Realme 12. Realme has confirmed the phone will be priced below Rs 12,000 and bring a bunch of upgrades over the Realme 11x including faster charging and VC cooling. The 12x is also getting the Air Gestures we recently saw inside the Realme Narzo 70 Pro and retaining the Realme 12’s dynamic button.
The Realme 12x will have the same design as the Realme 12 down to the colour choices. Hardware-wise, it appears to have the same display and processor. The battery capacity and charging speed are also the same as the Realme 12. The major difference is probably coming by way of the camera as the Realme 12x is set to get a 50-megapixel primary sensor (while the Realme 12 has a 108-megapixel). The Realme 12x is also getting IP54 splash resistance and rainwater smart touch. It will have dual speakers and Android 14.
Powering the 12x will be a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus, same as the Realme 12. It will also have VC cooling and a 7.69mm chassis. The display appears to be the same as well— 6.72-inch 120Hz FHD with up to 950 nits of peak brightness. It will have the same 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support.
Dynamic button and air gestures are new to Realme so it is nice that more phones are getting some of these quality of life improvements. But what will be more interesting is the price. The Realme 12x is confirmed to launch under Rs 12,000 so at least one of the variants will be priced like that. The Realme 12 was launched in 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB trims for Rs 16,999 and Rs 17,999 so the Realme 12x will be more affordable. Stay tuned for more updates.
