Meta held its annual hardware event- Meta Connect 2023. The company announced several new products at the event but the star of the show this year is company’s high-end Quest 3 headset. The new VR headset succeeds the Quest 2. Quest 3 was originally announced earlier this year by Mark Zuckerberg wherein he talked about its price and ETA but the core specs of the device was kept under wraps then.
Quest 3: At the Connect conference, Meta gave full details of its new VR headset. The Quest 3 comes with Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset and boasts 8GB of RAM. The headset includes a “passthrough” feature which enables users to seamlessly view the actual environment surrounding the headset, thereby reducing the sense of isolation and enhancing the realism of content. The passthrough mode can be activated by double-tapping any area of the headset.
The headset is equipped with a 4k+ “Infinite Display,” featuring two displays, each boasting a resolution of 2064 × 2208 per eye. Meta claims that this configuration delivers a remarkable 30 percent enhancement in visual resolution when compared to the Quest 2. According to the company, the device offers “25 pixels per degree and 1,218 pixels per inch for the best resolution across the entire Quest line.”
Meta Quest 3 is priced at $499.99 for the 128GB version and $649.99 for the 512GB model. Both are available for pre-order on the official Meta Quest website.

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses : Meta launched the new Ray-Ban smart glasses in partnership with EssilorLuxottica. Available for pre-order now, the new glasses feature improved audio and cameras, over 150 different custom frame and lens combinations, and they’re lighter and more comfortable.
Meta AI: In addition to the Quest 3 and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, Meta also announced a number of other new products and features at Meta Connect 2023, including a new AI assistant called Meta AI that can be used on Meta Quest 3, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, and other Meta platforms.

Emu: Meta also announced a new image generation AI called Emu that can create realistic images and videos from text descriptions.
“Restyle and backdrop – two new features that are coming soon to Instagram – use the technology from Emu. Backdrop also leverages learnings from our Segment Anything Model,” says company.
