The name and face behind Microsoft Surface and Windows for over years: Panos Panay recently quit Microsoft even before the recent Microsoft Surface event. Now, it’s official that he’s all in to head Amazon’s devices and service division, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy confirmed on Wednesday. This also corroborates with previous Bloomberg reports saying that Panos Panay is now headed to Amazon, after bidding goodbye to Microsoft.
Amazon CEO Andy Jessi wrote in a note to employees, via The Verge, “As a strong product builder and inventor who has deep experience in both hardware and integrated services, Panos will be a great addition to our devices and services organization moving forward.”

October will be the month for Panos Panay’s Amazon role
Panos Panay will join Amazon in October, transitioning into his role with the help of Dave Limp. Panay, known for his work at Microsoft, is leaving as Microsoft’s consumer marketing head. Meanwhile, Limp, formerly in charge of Echo devices and Alexa, will become the CEO of Blue Origin in December, a space company owned by Jeff Bezos.
Moreover, Dave Limp said in a statement, “I’ve known Panos for years, and believe he will be a great addition to this organization moving forward.” “He is a passionate product leader and I can’t wait to see what all of you invent together. I’ll work diligently with him for the next two months to ensure a smooth transition through our fall launches and getting through our OP1 planning,” he added.

Panos Panay has been the name and face behind the success of Microsoft Surface and Windows products. His presentations during keynote events are cheered widely. After his resignation, Yusuf Mehdi took charge and even led the recent Microsoft Surface event on Sept. 21.
