On Tuesday, OpenAI, headed by Sam Altman, introduced ChatGPT Go, an affordable subscription tier created with Indian users in mind. Priced at Rs 399 per month, the plan also supports payments via Unified Payments Interface (UPI), making it easier and more convenient to subscribe.
According to OpenAI, the Go plan is aimed at individuals seeking greater flexibility without committing to the higher-priced Plus or Pro options. By comparison, the Plus plan, priced at Rs 1,999 per month, provides access to older models like GPT-4o along with advanced tools including deep research, connectors, and Sora for video generation.
In contrast, the Go tier emphasizes essential features and budget-friendly access, making it a more economical choice for everyday use.
Nick Turley, OpenAI’s VP and head of ChatGPT, stated that the ChatGPT Go plan boosts limits on messages, image generation, and file uploads to ten times higher than what the free version offers. He also noted that the plan enhances memory capabilities, allowing for more tailored and personalized interactions.
We just launched ChatGPT Go in India, a new subscription tier that gives users in India more access to our most popular features: 10x higher message limits, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and 2x longer memory compared with our free tier. All for Rs. 399. 🇮🇳

ChatGPT Go features:
The Go plan builds on everything offered in the free version while unlocking full access to GPT-5, OpenAI’s most advanced model. With this subscription, users benefit from higher messaging limits, extra daily image generation credits, the ability to upload more files, and broader use of powerful data analysis features such as Python. In addition, the plan provides twice the memory capacity of the free tier, enabling conversations to retain a much longer context.
ChatGPT Go UPI payments support:
In India, subscription rates will now be shown directly in Indian Rupees (INR), eliminating the hassle of converting from foreign currencies. For the first time, OpenAI is also introducing support for UPI payments, the country’s most popular digital transaction system. This update is designed to make subscribing to a paid plan easier, faster, and more convenient, opening access to a much broader user base.
