It took one tool like ChatGPT for Google to empty wallets for building an LLM-based tool, Bard. The two have been competing with each other after the rise AI chatbots and ever-amassing buzz and excitement among users.
OpenAI co-founder and CEO Sam Altman extended birthday wishes to Google as it turned 25 on Sept 27. He noted Google as “one of the most important companies ever”. Nevertheless, he expressed concerns that the compliment might be misconstrued as a “snide comment” and emphasized that he sincerely intended it.

He wished Google on X, formerly Twitter. He wrote, “Happy 25th birthday to google, one of the most important companies ever. I am very grateful for the amazing products that have changed my life and so many others. (I worry this will come across as some sort of snide comment; I mean it very genuinely).”
Notably, Google Inc. was officially incorporated on Sept 4, but for over a decade, the company has commemorated its anniversary on Sept 27. It all started in a garage, and the journey from the garage to becoming a tech behemoth, it’s has been quite a fabulous journey.

Did Google train its Bard using ChatGPT?
In April, when reports surfaced about Google using ChatGPT data to train Bard, Sam Altman stated he wasn’t bothered by it. Google vehemently denied these rumours. Altman later clarified on X that he’s not particularly annoyed with Google for using ChatGPT data, but he finds the spin on it annoying.
The Information’s report suggested Google obtained ChatGPT data via ShareGPT to train Bard, but Google, through spokesperson Chris Pappas, refuted this claim, asserting that Bard was not trained on any ShareGPT or ChatGPT data when speaking to The Verge.
