OnePlus has confirmed that the next generation of its Ace series will skip the number four and introduce the OnePlus Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro. The decision to skip the number four is consistent with OnePlus’ previous practices, as the brand avoided using the number in its previous lineup, such as skipping the OnePlus 4 and jumping straight to the OnePlus 5 and 5T. This trend is said to arise from Chinese cultural beliefs, where the number four is considered unlucky.

While the exact specifications of the OnePlus Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro remain unconfirmed, some details have already emerged. It is expected that the OnePlus Ace 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, Qualcomm’s flagship processor for 2024. Meanwhile, the Ace 5 Pro is speculated to feature the even more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite, a variant designed to provide an extra performance boost. There is also speculation about a possible OnePlus Ace 5V version, which might feature the Dimensity 9400 chipset, though this is yet to be officially confirmed.

In terms of design, the OnePlus Ace 5 series is expected to adopt a similar look to OnePlus’ flagship models, featuring a flat display and a circular camera island positioned in the top-left corner of the back. The display could be a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED screen.

The camera setup on the OnePlus Ace 5 is expected to include a 50 MP primary sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP sensor for depth or macro shots. Additionally, the front-facing camera is expected to feature a 16 MP selfie snapper, catering to users who enjoy high-quality selfies and video calls.

Powering the device will be a large battery, likely exceeding 6,000 mAh, with support for 100W fast charging. This would ensure that the Ace 5 series offers quick top-ups, reducing downtime for users.

The OnePlus Ace 5 series has already obtained several certifications, which suggests that the devices could be launched soon. The OnePlus 13R, which is likely to be the international version of the Ace 5, has also been spotted in multiple certification listings, confirming that the device is in its final stages of development.

While OnePlus has not officially announced a launch date, the company is expected to reveal more details about the Ace 5 series in the coming weeks. Based on previous launch patterns, the OnePlus Ace 5 series may be unveiled ahead of the OnePlus 13R, with a release in China expected to happen first, followed by international availability in select markets.
