OnePlus is set to debut the OnePlus 15R in India on December 17, and the company has begun revealing key specifications to create hype around its newest flagship killer. The OnePlus 15R will sit under the OnePlus 15 as a high-performance smartphone without straining your wallet. It will be the first smartphone to feature Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset and one of the largest batteries in its segment.
The OnePlus 15R will replace the OnePlus 13R in the midrange segment, offering a similar performance profile and a hint of the brand’s flagship experience. Here’s what the leaks and rumours have revealed about this device so far.
OnePlus 15: Everything we know about this handset
The company has officially announced that the OnePlus 15R will be equipped with a massive 7,800mAh battery. This capacity surpasses the 7,300mAh unit found in the flagship OnePlus 15 and is expected to provide better endurance for extended gaming, streaming, and demanding productivity tasks. The battery is said to retain at least 80% of its capacity even after four years of use. To complement this large cell, the phone is also expected to feature 120W fast charging.
In terms of processing power, the OnePlus 15R is confirmed to be the first smartphone globally to launch with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which is the second most powerful mobile chip in Qualcomm’s lineup. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 should be able to allow games and apps to run without any limitations.
Faster refresh rate display and better cameras
The OnePlus 15R will boast a flagship-grade 165Hz 1.5K AMOLED display, which is the same high-refresh-rate panel featured in the premium OnePlus 15. The screen is said to offer a peak brightness of 1,800 nits and the ability to dim down to a comfortable 1 nit for use in dark environments. Furthermore, it comes with a TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification, ensuring eye comfort for prolonged use.
On the photography and videography front, OnePlus has confirmed that the 15R will be capable of recording 4K video at 120 frames per second (fps), a feature typically reserved for flagship-tier devices. While full details on the sensor specifications are still pending, the phone is expected to feature a dual-rear camera system.
The OnePlus 15R will be officially unveiled alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2 at an event in Bengaluru on December 17. The pricing remains unconfirmed, but market speculation suggests it will be positioned competitively, following the trend of its predecessor, the OnePlus 13R, which launched at Rs 42,999.
