OnePlus 12 has officially been launched in China, per schedule. The OnePlus 11 successor packs top-shelf specs including Qualcomm’s fastest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 100W fast charging, 1440p LTPO display and Hasselblad-tuned 50-megapixel triple rear cameras. All this is packaged inside a relatively affordable pricing, too, relative to the Samsung Galaxy S23 series or Google’s Pixel 8 series smartphones. The OnePlus 12 starts at CNY 4,299 which translates to Rs 51,000. General availability is pegged for December 11 with global launch confirmed for “early 2024”.

OnePlus 12 full specs, top features and more

The design of the OnePlus 12 is an evolution and continuity of “the well-accepted” OnePlus 11, OnePlus says. There are some changes, but they are seemingly “purposeful” refinements. The most prominent change is that OnePlus has moved the alert slider from right to the left side. By relocating it to the left side, OnePlus claims to improve the gaming antenna signal by 3dB and reduce the game latency by 15 percent. Ergonomically speaking, the OnePlus 12 comes in at 220g and 9.15mm. You’ll be able to get it in green, white and black, at least in China. The black version is matte, the white is glossy, while the green seems to have a 3D depth effect. The OnePlus 12 has an IP65 water and dust resistance rating.

OnePlus 12 launch
OnePlus 12 comes in three memory configurations.

Flip over to the front and you’ll find 6.82-inch 2K or 1440p LTPO AMOLED display sourced from BOE. In theory, it offers a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. If that wasn’t enough, OnePlus has put its rainwater touch technology into the panel and so, users will be able to get smooth touch responses in rain. Support for 2,160Hz PWM dimming is also available.

Powering the OnePlus 12 is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS4.0 storage. Running the show is a 5,400mAh battery with 100W fast wired and 50W wireless charging. Software-wise, the OnePlus 12 runs Android 14-based ColorOS 14 in China.

For photography, the OnePlus 12 has a triple camera setup on the rear with a 50-megapixel main Sony LYT-808 sensor, 48-megapixel Sony IMX581 sensor behind an ultrawide lens and another 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B sensor behind a 3x periscope telephoto lens. If it all seems familiar, it’s because it is the same exact setup from the OnePlus Open/Oppo Find N3, at least as far as the hardware is concerned. On the front, the OnePlus 12 has a 32-megapixel selfie shooter.
