Nothing has officially confirmed the rollout of its highly anticipated Nothing OS 4.0 stable version from November 21. Based on the latest Android 16, this update promises to be a significant leap into AI integration for Nothing devices. The Nothing OS 4 announcement comes after months of anticipation from Nothing’s global fanbase, who have been awaiting the update based on Android 16.

Nothing OS 4.0 builds on Android 16’s foundation and adds AI to improve the user experience. One of the standout features is the Extra Dark Mode, which reduces eye strain during late-night scrolls or productivity sessions. Complementing this is the Pop-Up View feature, enabling floating windows for multitasking. Customisation gets a fresh boost too, with two new lock screen clock styles for personalisation.

Quick settings now support a versatile 2×2 tile layout, allowing users to access controls more intuitively. Essential Apps lets you create and export custom widgets via the Nothing Playground portal, fostering a community-driven ecosystem. Camera enthusiasts on the Nothing Phone 2 series welcome the introduction of Stretch, a dynamic photo mode already familiar on the Phone 3 lineup, which promises sharper and more expansive shots.

Meanwhile, the Lock Glimpse widget delivers timely notifications and curated content right on your lock screen, although it’s disabled by default on the budget-friendly Phone 3a series to respect privacy preferences.

Rollout eligibility starts with Nothing’s flagship and mid-range lineup: the Nothing Phone 2, Phone 2a, Phone 2a Plus, Phone 3, Phone 3a, and Phone 3a Pro. The update is expected to hit these devices over the coming days via over-the-air (OTA) downloads, with Nothing promising a phased global deployment to ensure stability.

The update is also planned for more accessible models like the Phone 3a Lite and CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Nothing Phone 3 price slashed to tempt buyers

Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone 3, which is the company’s current flagship device, is selling with huge discounts on the online marketplace Amazon. The Phone 3, which was released earlier this year, was met with a lot of criticism for selling at a highly inflated price while offering dated specifications and an overall value aspect that was not comparable to other flagship phones. With rival brands like OnePlus, iQOO, and Oppo launching phones at similar prices with cutting-edge processors, Nothing had to resort to massive price cuts to move units.
