LinkedIn, the most popular professional networking platform, has brought a new useful feature. The new feature introduced by LinkedIn has brought updates to the Open To Work feature. Users who are looking for a new job will now be able to share their Notice Periods and Expected Annual salaries for new roles. According to LinkedIn the new updates will enhance transparency in the hiring process and will enable smoothness too.

What are the new features?

Prior to these additions in the Open to Work Feature. Users could only add an “Open-To-Work” badge on their profiles so that recruiters can easily spot their profiles. However, with the new additions to this feature, users can share Notice Period to potential recruiters along with the expected salaries. This adds a layer of transparency in the overall hiring process by letting recruiters know whether the employee they are looking to hire is serving a notice period or not. Moreover, it lets job-seekers convey their salary expectations.

What is the benefit of these features?

As per the platform, all LinkedIn users will get to use these new options. The Microsoft-owned platform insists that the new additions will only be visible to recruiters. However, it is entirely optional for users to mention notice period and salary, and they can decide not to display such information as per their choice. Moreover, the addition of notice period and annual salary expectations can help filter out unwanted offers, making it much smoother to get a new job. The new features are rolling out to all LinkedIn users in India.

Since LinkedIn is the go-to platform for professional connections, the Open to Work feature is touted to be a success by the company. According to the company 85 per cent of users who opt for the feature received help or encouragement from their connections. However, the process to land a new role may be tiresome. A user might receive multiple offers that are not up to their expectations, or perhaps the timing is not right.

According to LinkedIn, the platform will hide the Open to Work status from your current employer. Though the company claims that “it can’t guarantee complete privacy.” Apart from new additions, LinkedIn is also focusing more on Artificial Intelligence. The company has stated that the data shared on the platform may be used for training AI by LinkedIn or any Microsoft subsidiary.
