Reliance Jio has launched yet another feature phone for the Indian market. The company, at the Indian Mobile Congress 2023, launched a feature phone called the JioPhone Prima 4G in India.
The phone is part of company’s existing JioPhone feature series and has been priced at Rs 2,599. It is available in blue and yellow variants.
JioPhone Prima design and display
The JioPhone Prima 4G has rounded edges. The phone features a 2.4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 320×240 pixels. A Jio logo can be seen on the rear panel within concentric circles.
The phone is powered by an ARM Cortex A53 quad-core processor and comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It also has a microSD card slot for expandable storage up to 128GB.
The JioPhone Prima 4G has a 0.3MP front-facing camera and a 2MP rear camera. It also has a 1800mAh battery and comes with a flashlight- a useful feature in rural areas.
The phone runs on KaiOS, which is a Firefox OS-open-source project-based mobile operating system. This gives the phone access to a variety of popular apps, including WhatsApp, YouTube, Facebook, and Google Maps. The phone supports Bluetooth 5.0 and FM Radio. Being a Jio product, the phone comes pre-installed with Jio apps- Jio TV, Jio Cinema, Jio Saavn, and Jio News along with the YouTube.
Pricing and availability
The JioPhone Prima 4G is priced at Rs 2,599 and will come in blue and yellow variants. The phone will come around Diwali.
Jio at the IMC also announced India’s first satellite-based giga fiber service to accelerate digital inclusivity in India. The service is said to connect the remotest parts of the country with Gir in Gujarat, Korba in Chattisgarh, Nabrangpur in Odissa and ONGC-Jorhat in Assam already connected, as per company’s claims.
