Reliance Jio has made significant changes to the validity of its Rs 69 and Rs 139 data add-on plans. Previously, these plans offered validity matching the user’s main prepaid plan, allowing customers to use the data for as long as their base plan was active. However, the new changes mean that these add-on plans will now come with a standalone validity period.

According to TelecomTalk report, under the new terms, the Rs 69 data plan, which provides 6GB of data, will now be valid for just 7 days. Similarly, the Rs 139 plan, which includes 12GB of data, will also have a validity of only 7 days. Both plans require the user to have an active base prepaid plan from Jio to be eligible.

The revised structure now provides a shorter and more defined time frame for users to consume the data benefits, regardless of their base plan’s duration.

For users seeking shorter-term data options, Jio still offers a range of alternatives. The lowest-priced data packs start at Rs 11 for an hour of data, while a Rs 19 pack provides 1GB of data valid for a full day.

Jio separately has also silently launched a new Rs 189 prepaid plan in India, offering 2GB of high-speed 4G data, unlimited voice calling, and 300 SMS, all valid for 28 days. This plan comes as a response to customer feedback following confusion over its voice and SMS-only packs, which were initially believed to not support data add-ons. Jio clarified that users on its Rs 448 and Rs 1,748 plans can still add data top-ups like Rs 11, Rs 19, and Rs 29 packs. The Rs 189 plan, categorised as an “affordable pack,” reintroduces a previously discontinued plan and offers a cost-effective option for those seeking basic data benefits without 5G access. The launch also addresses growing concerns over Jio’s lower-tier plans, which now combine voice and data benefits in a more comprehensive package.
