Reliance Jio has given its Rs 1,029 entertainment-centric prepaid plan a silent update in India. The plan, which previously offered 56 days of Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition to buyers, now gets you 84 days of Amazon Prime Lite instead. Jio has made the changes on its official website, not announced them publicly, at least at the time of writing.
Jio currently provides a total of ten prepaid plans with free OTT (over-the-top) under its so-called ‘entertainment plans’ lineup. It gives you a whole bouquet of apps from the in-house JioTV Premium service to Netflix and, Prime Video. A switch to Amazon Prime Lite means Jio can—now—offer more value on the same plan than it did before.

As we mentioned, the Rs 1,029 prepaid plan from Jio now includes 84 days of Amazon Prime Lite subscription at no extra charge. Before the change, one would get 56 days of Prime Video Mobile Edition only. So, what’s the difference between the two Prime versions?
Amazon’s Prime Lite offers streaming on two devices (TV or mobile) in HD (720p) and includes free one-day delivery. While, the Prime Video Mobile Edition is a single-device, mobile-only plan offering standard definition streaming that is available in selected countries through external partners and directly from Amazon in India.
Jio Rs 1,029 prepaid plan: Other benefits
The Rs 1,029 prepaid plan has a validity of 84 days and gives you 2GB daily data, which amounts to 168GB in total. Since it’s a 2GB/day plan, you get unlimited 5G as well if you happen to reside in an area where Jio 5G services are available and you have a supported device. The other big highlights are unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day.
Jio versus Airtel
Airtel offers a full 84-day subscription to Amazon Prime subscription at a lower price of Rs 838. It offers more data as well—3GB per day (168GB total)—in addition to unlimited voice calls and 5G and 100 daily SMS. The only catch is that it comes with 56 days of total validity.
