iQOO Z9 is all set to launch in India on March 12, Vivo spin-off iQOO announced today. The Z9 product listing has been live on iQOO’s official sale partner Amazon for sometime confirming two key hardware elements— processor and camera. The design, too, has partially been revealed. The Z9 will be a follow-up to the iQOO Z7/Z7s.
The iQOO Z9 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200, the same chip that powers the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus (and also the iQOO Z7 Pro). Nothing is also using the same processor in its upcoming Phone 2a, albeit with “pro” moniker that suggests some sort of exclusive arrangement in branding and possibly, fine tuning.
Anyhow, iQOO says the choice of chip will make the iQOO Z9 the fastest phone in its segment. We’ll have to take that bit with a grain of salt though as iQOO previously claimed something similar with the iQOO Z7, only to silently jack up its price while introducing a less powerful model called the iQOO Z7s in its place a few days after launch.
But moving on, the iQOO Z9 is also confirmed to get a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 main sensor with optical image stabilisation, same as the Realme 12 Pro. Even this is being billed as a segment first by iQOO. There will be one more camera in this phone but we have an inkling it would be a 2MP depth or macro. But we’ll see.
The launch of iQOO Z9 is coming hot on the heels of iQOO Neo 9 Pro launch. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro is among the most affordable phone in India to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. There are other niceties, too, including a 144Hz AMOLED display, 50-megapixel Sony IMX920 main camera sensor, and a 5,160mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
