In a bizarre turn of events, robbers in Northwest D.C., returned a stolen Android phone, claiming that they didn’t want it. The incident occurred in the early hours when a woman was returning from a long night’s work. Her spouse, upon parking their car as requested, encountered two masked individuals, both armed, approaching him.
According to the report by ABC7, the robbers took everything from her husband including the car keys and his phone and then took off. In a bizarre twist, the thieves, one on foot and the other in a black BMW, made a curious decision when inspecting the husband’s phone. Unimpressed by the Android device, they returned it, expressing a preference for iPhones.

“They basically looked at that phone and were like ‘Oh, that’s an Android? We don’t want this. I thought it was an iPhone,’” the wife was quoted by the news report.
The entire unsettling encounter lasted mere seconds, yet its repercussions were profound, particularly for the woman, whose livelihood depended on services like Uber Eats and Instacart.
“That was my income,” she told the news website. “That was the way I made money. I did Uber Eats and Instacart so, that was our livelihood.”
