With this refreshed lineup, it appears the company is preparing to discontinue the Plus variant starting this year. Although various leaks and reports have suggested major changes to the upcoming lineup, Apple’s formal reveal of its next-gen operating systems now confirms several standout features that will be available on devices such as the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to bring significant enhancements to its camera system—an upgrade that potential buyers eagerly anticipate. This focus on photography improvements is well-justified, given the iPhone’s longstanding reputation for dependable and high-quality cameras.
iPhone 17 Pro Max launch date:
Apple has traditionally unveiled its latest iPhones in early September, and the iPhone 17 series is expected to follow the same release window. However, one model—the iPhone 17E—might break from this pattern. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and a report from The Information suggest that this particular version could see its launch delayed until the beginning of 2026.
iPhone 17 Pro Max display:
This suggests that the iPhone 17 and the newly introduced iPhone 17 Air may feature displays that aren’t as sophisticated as those found on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. The standard variants are unlikely to include ProMotion technology, which relies on LTPO panels capable of dynamically adjusting the refresh rate from 120Hz down to 1Hz. Instead, the iPhone 17 and 17 Air might offer a maximum refresh rate of up to 90Hz.
iPhone 17 Pro Max performance:
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 might either continue using the A18 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 16 or introduce the next-gen A19 processor, depending on which speculation turns out to be true. Both chips are anticipated to be built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm fabrication process. The regular iPhone 17 is expected to come equipped with 8GB of RAM, similar to its predecessor, while the Pro models could see an upgrade to 12GB. All four variants in the iPhone 17 series are set to launch with iOS 26, Apple’s latest software version introduced at WWDC 2025.
iPhone 17 Pro Max design:
Apple is aiming to enhance both the aesthetics and durability of its Pro models by combining glass and aluminum in their design. The glass back will support seamless wireless charging, while the aluminum frame will provide added structural strength, ensuring a premium yet robust build quality.
iPhone 17 Pro Max camera:
Apple is said to be working on a redesigned 24-megapixel front camera featuring a six-element lens, aimed at delivering crisper selfies and enhanced video performance. The iPhone 17 Pro Max could also see a substantial leap in its telephoto capabilities, with a new 48-megapixel sensor replacing the current 12-megapixel version. Leaks suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro Max may come with a steeper price tag this year, potentially retailing at approximately Rs 1,64,900 in India, $2,300 in the United States, and AED 5,399 in the UAE. This anticipated price jump could be attributed to rising manufacturing expenses and growing uncertainty surrounding potential U.S. tariffs on Apple, driven by policies linked to President Donald Trump.
