In the midst of all leaks and speculations, custom smartphone designer Caviar International has already started taking pre-bookings for custom iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. In an advertisement marked on the masthead of its website, a custom render of the iPhone 17 Pro has been featured alongside a custom iPhone 16 Pro. What makes this ad more relevant is that it confirms the rumoured changes on the back of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, sort of.
The render of the custom iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max confirms the rumoured new rear camera system layout, highlighting a new location of the flash and the LiDAR sensor. Unlike the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which holds its LED flash and LiDAR sensor closer to the cameras, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will host the LED flash and LiDAR sensor on the right edge. The camera lenses also appear to be a tad smaller than those on the iPhone 16 Pro variants.
While the Caviar version doesn’t reveal the actual design from Apple, it hints at the possibility of the rumoured back panel design – a large rectangular camera hump. Since Caviar charges a premium for its artistry over Apple’s exorbitant price tags, it is difficult to figure out the actual price. The Golden Rose variant is currently available for as low as $7,870.
Big changes coming to iPhone 17 Pro
A significant upgrade for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max is their thermal management systems: a new vapour chamber (VC) cooling system. Marking a notable departure from the graphite sheets, this technology would keep the chipset thermals in check, just like several high-end Android smartphones. This cooling solution is crucial to accommodate the powerful A19 Pro chip, which could raise the bar for smartphone performance.
Other than the chipset, the iPhone 17 Pro series is also expected to flaunt a new triple camera system, where a 48MP main wide camera and the 48MP ultrawide/macro lens is rumoured to be accompanied by another 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.
The changes are expected to drive up the prices significantly. Indian buyers could end up paying at least Rs 10,000 more for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max compared to the iPhone 16 Pro’s launch prices.
