When is the iPhone 17 launching? With just a week after Apple’s developer conference keynote revealed all the new software products, Apple is making no further announcements for the next few months. It is expected that September could be the next when Apple takes to the stage once again and reveals everything it has been cooking for a while. This year, it is most likely that Apple will come up with the iPhone 17 series along with a couple of other refreshes.
Barring the COVID-19-affected year of 2020, when Apple had to postpone its iPhone 12 launch event to October, the Cupertino giant has usually stuck to new iPhone announcements in September. Hence, if the world doesn’t put itself through another catastrophe, the next generation of iPhones is expected to come in early September.
However, when could be the exact date of Apple revealing the new iPhone 17 range? Will it be the first week of September in a bid to offset the effect of Google’s Pixel 10 series launch in August? Or, could Apple lean towards a late launch in a bid to take care of the market ahead of the festive season? An insight from Forbes reveals some interesting observations.
iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro expected launch date: When could it happen?
Considering the consistent flow of leaks and rumours, it seems that the iPhone 17 series is on for a timely release. Hence, an early September launch could be possible.
Historically, Apple has favored the second Tuesday or Wednesday of September for its iPhone keynote events. This scheduling allows for immediate pre-orders, typically commencing on the Friday of the same week, followed by the first wave of device availability in retail stores as well as delivery a week later.
Since the first week of September hosts the US Labor Day, Apple would avoid having the launch that week. A late reveal by September 17 could spoil Apple’s chances at taking advantage of the festive season in countries like India, where the festivities are starting earlier this year. Hence, the iPhone 17 is likely to be revealed either on September 9, Tuesday or September 10, Wednesday.
Note that these are wild speculations and Apple is yet to reveal anything on that front. The launch of the iPhone 17 series depends on several other factors such as a flawless development process, early start of mass production and a steady supply of essential components.
iPhone 17 series to bring big changes
The iPhone 17 series is expected to bring some notable changes to the lineup, the biggest one being the replacement of the iPhone 16 Plus with the iPhone 17 Air – a slim and large iPhone that wants to offer the same kind of in-hand feel as the iPhone 6 from over a decade ago. The stock iPhone 17 is rumoured to use only the A18 chip whereas the iPhone 17 Air will step up to the next-gen A19 chip. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will step up to the A19 Pro chips. All models are rumoured to get a 120Hz OLED display as standard.
