Apple is set to unveil its next-generation iPhone 17 series this September. The lineup is expected to include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. This time iPhone maker may add a new model iPhone 17 Air which is expected to be its slimmest model yet, featuring significant design overhauls. In pursuit of an ultra-thin profile, the company is reportedly considering eliminating the USB-C port and other traditional connectors, paving the way for a completely wireless iPhone—potentially marking a major shift in the smartphone landscape.
iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max launch date:
Apple usually launches its new iPhones each September, and the 2025 release is anticipated to follow suit. Insider reports suggest the iPhone 17 series could be announced between September 11 and 13.
iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max chipset:
If the report proves accurate, the base model of the iPhone 17 might fall short in performance compared to its higher-end counterparts. While the iPhone 17 Pro variants are expected to feature the more powerful A19 Pro chip, the rumored iPhone 17 Air will likely come equipped with the standard A19 chip. Both chips are expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced third-generation 3nm (N3P) process.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, both the iPhone 17 Pro models and the iPhone 17 Air are expected to feature 12GB of RAM—a step up from the current generation’s 8GB. However, the RAM configuration for the standard iPhone 17 remains uncertain, as Apple is reportedly still deciding between 8GB and 12GB for the base model.
iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max display:
The standard iPhone 17 is anticipated to sport a 6.3-inch screen, slightly larger than the previous 6.1-inch model. The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to have a 6.6-inch display, while the iPhone 17 Pro may come with a 6.3-inch screen. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to offer a sizable 6.9-inch display.
A recent leak from Chinese tipster Fixed Focus Digital suggests that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air may come with upgraded 120Hz displays. However, these non-Pro models are not expected to include ProMotion technology, meaning they won’t support adaptive refresh rates and will lack the ability to adjust screen refresh based on activity.
