Apple is preparing for its highly anticipated iPhone unveiling in September 2025, where all eyes are expected to be on the latest entry in its premium lineup—the iPhone 17 Air 5G. Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 17 series is anticipated to cater to a broad spectrum of users, featuring four distinct models: the standard iPhone 17, the lightweight iPhone 17 Air, the performance-driven iPhone 17 Pro, and the top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max. As per a recent investor memo shared by Jefferies analyst Edison Lee, Apple may implement a $50 price hike across the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
iPhone 17 Air launch date:
Apple is expected to debut its iPhone 17 series around mid-September 2025. The updated lineup—comprising the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and the premium iPhone 17 Pro Max—is anticipated to be revealed during the second week of the month. According to Bloomberg’s well-known Apple journalist Mark Gurman, the official announcement could take place on either September 8, 9, or 10.
iPhone 17 Air design:
The iPhone 17 Air is tipped to be remarkably thin—potentially just 5.5mm at its thickest point, and possibly slimmer in certain areas—positioning it among the slimmest smartphones available. This marks a dramatic reduction from the 8.25mm thickness of the iPhone 16 Pro. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman predicts the upcoming device will shave off about 2mm compared to its predecessor, while industry analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu estimate the final thickness will fall somewhere between 5mm and 6.25mm.
iPhone 17 Air camera:
Apple is reportedly simplifying the rear camera system on the iPhone 17 Air, opting for a single-lens setup instead of the usual multi-camera arrangement. To save internal space, the device may come equipped with a 48MP wide-angle sensor—the same powerful lens used in recent iPhone models. Leaked design renders suggest a new horizontal camera strip, echoing the aesthetic of the forthcoming iPhone 17 Pro.
