Hours after Apple introduced its latest iPhone 16 series, Huawei is making headlines by launching the world’s first triple-foldable phone, the Mate XT Ultimate Design. While numerous companies are exploring tri-folding phone concepts, Huawei has taken a significant leap forward by launching the world’s first commercially available tri-folding smartphone.
Priced at 19,999 yuan (Rs 2,35,800 approx.) for the 256GB storage model, the smartphone offers a unique triple-folding capability, allowing it to transform from a standard phone into dual- and triple-screen modes- first time ever in a smartphone. The two higher storage options are priced at 21,999 yuan (around Rs 2,45,000) for 512GB and 23,999 yuan (about Rs 2,70,000) for 1TB. According to The Verge, Chinese retailer Vmall has already registered 3.7 million preorders before the official pricing was out.
Huawei Mate XT, when fully extended, provides a 10.2-inch tablet experience. The device features a sophisticated hinge system that supports both inward and outward folds.
Huawei’s latest innovation is equipped with a 6.4-inch OLED cover screen, a 7.9-inch dual screen, and a 10.2-inch triple screen. It includes a versatile camera setup with a 50-megapixel ultrawide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel ultrawide-angle lens, and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The front camera boasts an 8-megapixel resolution that sits in a punch hole cut located at top-left corner of the phone.
The smartphone is powered by a robust 5,600-mAh battery that supports 66W of wired charging or 50W wirelessly. Storage options range from 256GB to 1TB, with 16GB of RAM.
Huawei’s launch of the Mate XT Ultimate Design, the world’s first triple-foldable phone, seems to have been timed perfectly with Apple’s iPhone 16 release. By debuting their innovative phone just hours after Apple’s announcement, Huawei grabs attention and highlights its own tech innovations.
