Apple’s iPad Mini 7 is here, packing upgraded features and improved performance. The last iPad Mini—which was released in 2021—was a complete overhaul in so many ways, this ‘new’ iPad Mini might seem like a do-over on the surface. It has mostly the same design and footprint.
Unlike the iPad Air, where Apple chose to offer more screen real estate as an option this year, the iPad Mini stays true to its cause. The iPad Mini 7, per usual, comes in Wi-Fi and cellular (5G) models. The Wi-Fi-only version’s price in India is as follows—Rs 49,900 for 128GB, Rs 59,900 for 256GB, and Rs 79,900 for 512GB. The 5G variant is priced at Rs 64,900 for 128GB, Rs 74,900 for 256GB, and Rs 94,900 for 512GB.
For education, the new iPad Mini starts at Rs 44,900. To be clear, this discount is available to all “current and newly accepted college students and their parents, as well as faculty, staff, and home-school teachers of all grade levels,” per Apple.

Head over to Apple’s official website or visit Apple Store locations and Apple Authorised Resellers. The pre-orders are now live, so you can secure your iPad Mini 7 right away. It will go on sale from October 23.
3. iPad Mini 7: Powerful A17 Pro chip inside
The iPad Mini in 2024 is powered by the A17 Pro chip from last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Apple says the new chip should entail 30 percent boost in CPU performance and a 25 percent jump in graphics over the A15 Bionic inside the last iPad Mini. Apple Intelligence is a big sell. The iPad Mini 7 in fact now becomes the most affordable Apple device to support it with the roll-out of iOS 18.1 later this month.
4. iPad Mini 7: Apple Pencil Pro compatibility
The new iPad Mini 7 supports the Apple Pencil Pro as well, making it ideal for creatives. Previously, you could use it with the M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air only. The new iPad Mini still supports Bluetooth keyboards only.
5. iPad Mini 7: Wi-Fi 6E and eSIM support
The iPad Mini 7 also gets Wi-Fi 6E and USB Type-C port that is ‘2x faster’ with data transfers up to 10Gbps. Also, this model only supports eSIM for cellular connectivity.
6. iPad Mini 7: More storage, same battery life
The base variant now offers 128GB of storage, up from 64GB in the previous generation. It is rated for up to 10 hours of usage on a single charge.
7. iPad Mini 7: New colours and design tweaks
The iPad Mini 7 comes in a choice of blue, purple, starlight, and space gray. It keeps the same design as its predecessor but adds the “iPad Mini” label on the back.
