YouTube Community Guidelines Parameters

The violations encompassed various parameters such as harmful or dangerous content, child safety, violent or graphic content, nudity and sexual content, and misinformation, among others.

In India alone, over 2.25 million videos were removed between October and December 2023 for breaching YouTube’s community guidelines, placing India at the top of the list among 30 countries in terms of video removals.

During the same period, YouTube removed 20.5 million channels globally for violating its community guidelines. When a channel is terminated, all of its videos are taken down. The report noted that the number of videos removed due to channel-level termination reached 95.5 million during this timeframe.

It clarified that channels are terminated if they accrue three community guidelines strikes in 90 days, exhibit severe abuse such as predatory behaviour, or are solely dedicated to violating the platform’s guidelines, such as spam accounts.

The platform emphasised its commitment to maintaining a safe and vibrant community through its Community Guidelines, which prohibit pornography, incitement to violence, harassment, and hate speech.
