Barbie fans assemble, as HMD (Human Mobile Devices, which is a brand licensed by Nokia) is all set to introduce its first ‘Barbie-themed’ flip phone. According to sources, HMD will be rolling out the ‘Barbie’ flip phone on August 28.
Earlier during the MWD event that took place in February, HMD had given hints that a new set of HMD phones is coming in 2024. Now it cleared things and shared its plans to introduce its Barbie branded phone in global markets.
Get yourself a ‘Barbie styled’ flip phone
According to sources the Barbie-branded phone is finally launching on August 28. However, HMD is yet to reveal the key specs or features of the upcoming phone. As of now, it is known that this is a flip phone. Speculations also suggest that the new ‘Barbie’ flip phone will come in pink colour to match well with the Barbie brand.
The leaks further suggest that the device will run on S30+ or KaiOS. The brand is launching this Barbie-themed phone in partnership with toy maker Mattel.The company has also showcased an image suggesting a pink colour scheme for the upcoming retro feature phone. Further, HMD is expected to bring back another iconic Nokia phone design this year.
Earlier during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 event in Barcelona on Sunday (February 25), HMD Global, the company known for its Nokia-branded phones, had announced its rebranding plans.
Other updates
The Indian market already has some flip phones from brands such as Motorola, Samsung and Oppo, among others. But, the flip phone from HMD isn’t expected to be a flagship offering and might be targeted towards budget-conscious users.
Furthermore, the company has not exposed much details about the phone. Rumours suggest that the new phone might be similar to Motorola’s Edge 50 Ultra. It might add the display and keypad on the inner side of the phone.Moreover, it is speculated that the new phone will come with a foldable style. Earlier in April, HMD which stands for Human Mobile Devices (a brand licensed by Nokia) launched its first batch of “self branded” smartphones. According to sources, the HMD Pulse, HMD Pulse Plus, and HMD Pulse Pro officially made their global debut on April 24, 2024.
