GTA 6 is slated to released on May 26, 2026 on Sony and Microsoft consoles.

The wait for GTA 6 never seems to end. First teased in December 2023, the next installment of Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to break new records in the business of entertainment, just like its predecessor, GTA 5, did 13 years ago. With a revolutionary new storyline and a reimagined version of Vice City, GTA 6 promises to bring a visual spectacle to gamers across the world.

With two official trailers out, Rockstar Games has given us a fair idea of everything to expect from the next installment of Grand Theft Auto. Two new protagonists will lead you through the tales of Vice City, a fictional take on Miami. In a series first, GTA 6 will bring a female protagonist to the scene, thus adding a new dynamic to the storyline. With new graphics and advanced gameplay physics, coupled with smarter AI taking care of non-playable characters (NPC), there are huge expectations from GTA 6.

With all the leaks and rumours surrounding other aspects of the game, we decided to collate all the known details and features of the game, including the expected price and the supported consoles.

GTA 6 release date and supported platforms

GTA 6 is expected to be released in 2026 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. A PC version is likely to follow later, as has been the strategy for previous games Rockstar has released. While industry experts and analysts predict that GTA 6 will run at 30 fps as standard on the PS5 and Xbox consoles, some leaks have hinted at the possibility of a 60 fps gameplay experience limited exclusively to the beefier PS5 Pro console.

GTA 6 story and plot details

After GTA 5 introduced the concept of three simultaneously playable protagonists, GTA 6 will reportedly feature two main protagonists, a first for the franchise. The characters, a male and female duo named Jason and Lucia, are rumoured to have a Bonnie and Clyde-style romantic relationship, giving the narrative a new dynamic. These protagonists will lead us through their lives and stories in a modernised version of Vice City, which first appeared in GTA: Vice City Stories, and will be part of a larger new state called Leonida.

GTA 6: New gameplay features

Every version of GTA has always focused on realism and player immersion while keeping the gameplay fun with arcade-style elements. For GTA 6, Rockstar Games could be utilising a new and improved physics system and enhanced vehicle mechanics to make the overall experience richer. The game is also expected to have more realistic police chases with improved AI for non-playable characters (NPCs)  and a refined wanted system. In-game actions, such as shopping or interacting with items, are rumoured to be more manual, requiring player input rather than being automated. This suggests that Rockstar is aiming to create a world that’s more deliberate and interactive for players to explore.

Expected price and system requirements

While no official pricing has been announced yet, leaks suggest that the game’s standard edition could be priced around $100 (approximately Rs 8,700) internationally, with special editions costing even more. For PC players, the game is expected to have demanding system requirements due to its cutting-edge graphics and physics.

As of now, Rockstar Games has only confirmed support for the Sony PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. No PC release date and system requirements have been revealed as of yet.
