Google has introduced a new payment feature, named UPI Circle for its Google Pay app. The new UPI feature will simplify your digital payments method. According to an official blog , this new feature will allow you to do online payments even if you don’t have access to a bank account. The company further explained that the UPI Circle feature will be available on the Google Pay app soon.
Understanding Google UPI Circle
In collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Google aims to bridge the gap between offline and digital payments users. UPI Circle can allow you to use digital payments to contacts they trust. On top of this, if your UPI is not connected to any bank, you can still make online transactions. Also this feature is easy to use, Google highlighted further.
The UPI Circle allows two types of delegations. These include partial delegation and full delegation. With partial delegation, the primary user can have full control over every transaction that the secondary user makes. For every transaction, the primary user needs to approve a transaction request sent by the secondary user. On the other hand, in case of full delegations, the primary user can set up a payment limit for each month. The secondary user can transact money up to Rs 15,00. Also, with this feature the secondary user does not need permission for every transaction.
So how do you use this feature? Here’s how you can use UPI Circle:
- Once everything is set up, the secondary user can do a transaction of Rs 15,00 per month. Note that you can transfer up to Rs 5,000 per transaction.
 - For every transaction, the primary user needs to approve the transaction. They can also deny the transaction if needed.

In addition to this, both the secondary and primary user can track the transactions made. This not only creates transparency but also ensures safety. With the rising number of financial frauds, this feature can act as a safety net. Also, it can be great for old people who might not be able to understand the dynamics of digital payments.
Other updates
In order to use the new feature, you need to follow some criteria. The checkpoints includes the following:
- The primary user (the account holder) needs to have their active bank account linked with Google Pay.
 - Next, the secondary user should have an active UPI ID. Note that the secondary user is a saved contact in the primary account holder.
 - To initiate a transaction, the secondary user needs to have a QR code scanner feature on their phone.
 - The primary user needs to accept the connection request for linking the UPI ID of the secondary user.

Notably, a primary user can include up to 5 secondary user accounts.
