Google is hosting a new Made by Google event on August 20 and the invite reveals plans to showcase the next-generation Pixel flagship phones along with new earbuds, watches and other crucial updates. Although Google remains tight-lipped about the devices, industry insiders hint at Google hosting this event for the Pixel 10 flagship phones, the Pixel Watch 4, a new variant of the Pixel Buds Pro and other crucial tech updates.
The centerpiece of the event is likely going to be the Pixel 10 flagship phones. Four new models are expected to show up, with one of them being a foldable. The series will succeed the Pixel 9-branded devices from last year, consisting of a vanilla Pixel 10, a beefed-up Pixel 10 Pro, along with a ‘larger-screen-ed’ Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Recent leaks have given us fair idea of what to expect from Google’s smartphone division, with some major highlights being:
– A triple camera system on the standard Pixel 10, adding a dedicated telephoto shooter to the combo of wide and ultra-wide sensors.
– A brand-new Tensor G5 chipset that’s not manufactured by Samsung’s foundry this time. Instead, rumours suggest a TSMC-based 3nm Tensor G5 that could impress with its superior raw performance, faster AI processing, and better power efficiency.
– More new AI features to enhance the user experience. Rumours hint at better integration with Gemini services, thereby allowing for superior AI features.
– Nicer cameras on all the models.
– Pixel 10 Pro Fold to have slightly bigger display and stronger hinge, while retaining he same cameras as its predecessor.
– All handsets to launch with the latest Android 16 with Material UI 3 interface.
Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds expanding the lineup
Other than the Pixel 10 smartphones, Google is also expected to introduce the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds. The new Pixel Watch 4 could bring improvements in health tracking, battery stamina, and better integration with Google Gemini. You can also expect Google to add new Fitbit health tracking features and possibly new strap designs.
As for the new Pixel Buds, we expect Google to unveil the Pixel Buds Pro 3rd generation model. The new versions are expected to have better audio drivers, superior noise cancellation, tighter integration with Google Gemini and new colours. Don’t discount new health tracking features.
