A partial outage has disrupted multiple Google services worldwide, including Gmail, Drive, Gemini, and other Workspace tools. The disruption, first reported around 11:15am ET on July 18, appears to be linked to issues in Google Cloud, which powers several of these platforms.
According to Downdetector, thousands of users began experiencing issues at the same time. Around 44% of them reported endless loading screens, 30% were unable to log into Gmail, while 26% couldn’t even run a simple Google search.
The outage has also had a ripple effect on other services powered by Google Cloud, including Zoom, Discord, Shopify, Spotify, and Pokémon Go. Many users took to social media to share their frustration as work, communication, and entertainment services were impacted simultaneously.
Though not all Google services were equally affected, reports indicated disruptions across Google Docs, Meet, and Nest devices as well. The Gemini AI assistant also faced instability.
Google has acknowledged the issue and is investigating the root cause. As of now, there is no official ETA for full restoration.
