Smartphones to launch in February 2025: Buying guide

February is shaping up to be a hot month for smartphone enthusiasts, with a flurry of exciting releases hitting the market.  From flagship powerhouses to camera-centric marvels and innovative foldables, there’s something for everyone, so it seems.

Samsung’s AI-powered Galaxy S25 series, including the S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra, finally goes on sale, promising enhanced performance and intelligent features. iQOO is set to unleash the Neo 10R, an India-exclusive “all-rounder” with a striking design, ready to take on the OnePlus 13R. Vivo is focusing on photography with the V50, partnering with ZEISS to deliver “picture perfect” moments, particularly for wedding photography.

Oppo’s Find N5, potentially launching globally as the OnePlus Open 2, aims to redefine foldable slimness, even teasing comparisons to the iPad Pro. Finally, Xiaomi is expected to complete its 15 series with the highly anticipated Xiaomi 15 Ultra, rumoured to pack top-tier specs. Get ready to upgrade your mobile experience this February!

1. Samsung Galaxy S25 series

Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 series globally, India included, on January 22. But the devices, the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, will only go on sale in February. In the US, opens sales are beginning from February 7. Samsung hasn’t made any specific comment about India, but those who have pre-ordered, will start getting their units from as early as February 4. As we have covered in multiple articles, the Galaxy S25 series doesn’t bring any drastic change in hardware. Instead, the S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra rely on AI—Galaxy AI—to make case. All the devices are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor custom-tuned for Samsung Galaxy to enable certain under-the-hood improvements in areas like display over the outgoing Galaxy S24 models. The RAM has also been ramped up to 12GB across the whole series in this generation. The Galaxy S25 starts at Rs 80,999, the Galaxy S25 Plus at Rs 99,999, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra at Rs 1,29,999.

2. iQOO Neo 10R

iQOO hit gold with the iQOO 13, setting a new benchmark by offering a “flagship-tier” phone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite at a starting price of Rs 54,999. Needless to say, it’s next move is hotly anticipated and iQOO has been listening. The Vivo spin-off has announced its next phone, the iQOO Neo 10R, is coming soon to India and while it doesn’t say when, it is highly likely to arrive sometime in February. At this point, it seems like an India-exclusive product and billed as an “all-rounder high-performance smartphone with a bold and unique design.” One of the variants, called “iQOO Neo 10R Raging Blue” with a striking blue and white back is “crafted exclusively for India—to provide Indian consumers with unique and innovative designs that resonate with their bold and vibrant colour preferences,” iQOO says. The iQOO Neo 10R is expected to rival the OnePlus 13R.

3. Vivo V50

While rumour mills are buzzing with the impending launch of the Vivo X200 Pro Mini, Vivo has come out and confirmed that it is launching the Vivo V50 in India soon. Teasers shared by the company suggest a standalone Vivo V50 and no word on the Vivo V50 Pro now. The V50, like it is with all Vivo V-series phones, will be making a big splash with photography. There are two big takeaways from everything that Vivo is sharing ahead of launch. One is that the phone will be made in partnership with ZEISS which is to say that it will have either ZEISS lenses or tuning. Secondly, Vivo is promising that your “forever is about get picture perfect. Vivo V50 coming soon to make weddings, pro,” hinting that it is ready to upgrade its wedding photography shenanigans on the upcoming phone. It seems the V50 will come in pink hue, as one of the potential colourways.

4. Oppo Find N5/OnePlus Open 2

The Find N5, Oppo’s next book-style foldable, is expected to break cover in China later this month. It is interesting not just from a product point of view, but also because it could be headed elsewhere under the OnePlus Open 2 branding. Oppo has already kicked-off the hype train teasing what appears to be its biggest USP—the size. The Oppo Find N5 is claimed to be exceptionally slim from a foldable perspective. Oppo has gone ahead and given some “unbelievable” comparisons as well, like a very recent one, that says that it will be even thinner than the M4 iPad Pro. The Find N5 is expected to rock the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite but buzz has it that Oppo is going for a binned version with seven CPU cores.

5. Xiaomi 15 Ultra

Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro in October. That is of course in China. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra however was curiously missing from the Xiaomi 15 series at that time. That is set to change later this month when Xiaomi will finally take the wraps off its most powerful and feature-packed smartphone, first in China followed by a global release which is pegged for MWC 2025 in March. We have reason to believe that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra (and Xiaomi 15) could be headed to India as well, sooner rather than later.
