After its massive theatrical success, audiences are now looking forward to its much-awaited OTT release. F1: The Movie, which brings back Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski alongside producer Jerry Bruckheimer, marks a massive breakthrough for Apple Original Films in the theatrical space—especially after the company endured a string of big-budget box office disappointments.

Excitement is building among viewers as Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie gears up for its digital debut, arriving on Amazon Prime Video for rental starting August 22. Apple TV+ is expected to roll out the streaming of the film sometime between late September and early October, though an exact premiere date hasn’t been locked in yet.

In F1: The Movie, Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a once-celebrated Formula 1 driver whose career was cut short years ago after a devastating crash. His former teammate, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), now the struggling owner of the APXGP team, persuades Sonny to return to the sport—not as a racer, but as a mentor. Tasked with guiding rookie driver Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), Sonny joins forces with Ruben to revive the team’s fading legacy.

Joseph Kosinski’s Brad Pitt-led F1: The Movie raked in $2.7 million during its eighth weekend in North America. As per the newest figures from Box Office Mojo, the racing drama slipped just 7.4% compared to the previous weekend. With this, the film’s domestic earnings have climbed to $182.8 million after eight weeks in theaters.

The film witnessed just a 19% dip from the previous weekend, pushing its overseas earnings to $407.7 million across 78 markets. Combined with the North American tally, the global box office now stands at $590.5 million, and the movie is on course to surpass the $600 million milestone soon.
