Elon Musk is planning to introduce a supercomputer, named the “gigafactory of compute”. Musk explains that he plans to give a tough competition to Alphabet’s Google and Microsoft-backed OpenAI by building this supercomputer.
After Elon Musk shares warning against AI, it seems that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and Space X, is here again to announce another adaptation of IoT.
What’s the Plan?
From what it is understood, Elon Musk seems to plan to build a massive supercomputer for his AI startup xAI. Musk aims to integrate about 100,000 Nvidia chips in his proposed ‘Supercomputer’ by fall 2025.
It is believed that Musk also aims to challenge major AI players such as OpenAI and Meta with xAI’s Grok chatbot accessing real-time data from his social media platform X.
The proposed ‘supercomputer’ is expected to be “at least four times the size of the largest GPU clusters currently in existence,” Musk explains. Musk also explains that he plans to beat those utilised by Meta for AI model training.
The future is here!
The field of AI seems to have become intensely competitive, with major players such as Microsoft, Google, Meta, and startups such as Anthropic and Stability AI vying for dominance. Looking at the competitive landscape Elon Musk plans to beat all industry players with his proposed ‘supercomputer’.
Elon Musk also told investors that he wants to get the proposed supercomputer running by the fall of 2025. He also plans to hold himself personally responsible for delivering the proposed ‘supercomputer’ on time. Adding further, Musk highlights that xAI might partner with Oracle to develop the massive supercomputer.
Furthermore, Elon Musk explains that he will connect groups of GPU chips, which is Nvidia’s flagship H100. This is expected to make the anticipated semiconductor “at least four times the size of the biggest GPU clusters that exist today” breaking all records, Musk concluded.
