The Government of India is developing a mobile application for Aadhaar users and holders. The mobile application is being developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India. Primarily, the application seems to offer services like updating personal details using the app, without having to physically visit Aadhar Seva Kendras. The personal details that can be updated online post the launch of the mobile application include name, address, date of birth, and more. Although the application is not yet complete but it’s on schedule to launch very soon. The mobile application is designed to offer a streamlined, user-friendly solution for updating Aadhaar information through a single digital interface.

According to a government official, the mobile application is most likely to arrive by the end of this year.

What is e-Aadhaar?

A new Aadhaar mobile application is set to enable users to update key personal details—like their name, residential address, and birth date—right from their smartphones. This digital solution aims to minimize the dependency on in-person visits to enrollment centers.

By integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Face ID technology, the app would deliver secure and seamless digital Aadhaar services to users across India.

Beginning in November, Aadhaar users will only need to go to enrolment centers for biometric authentication, including fingerprint and iris scanning. This new move by UIDAI aims to simplify the update process, eliminate the need for extensive paperwork, minimize identity fraud risks, and speed up the entire procedure while making it more convenient for users.

What Additional documents support will the app provide?

In addition to these features, UIDAI plans to automatically fetch user data from verified government sources. This will include documents such as birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licences, ration cards from the Public Distribution System (PDS), and records from the MNREGA scheme. Furthermore, electricity bill details may also be incorporated to make address verification even more seamless.
