As all eyes are set on the Apple WWDC 2024 coming on June 10, Apple seems to avoid the launch of any form of hardware this year. News comes in that this year Apple will solely focus on developing software.
According to a report from Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, the Cupertino-based company has no plans to introduce new hardware during the conference.
Furthermore, it seems like Gurman specifically explained that there is no expectation for any new device previews or announcements. The statement seems to counter the early predictions made about a forthcoming next-generation Apple TV.
Apple WWDC 2024: Updates to expect!
“There’s no hardware slated to be announced at WWDC, unless Apple unexpectedly previews a new device launching later (to be clear: I don’t expect that). The company updated the iPad in May, and the new iPhones, AirPods and Apple Watches aren’t arriving until September. There’s also no new Vision Pro coming anytime soon, and the AirTag 2 isn’t due to arrive until next year. A new Apple TV isn’t imminent either, and the M4 Mac range isn’t coming until the fall,” Gurman explained.
In addition to this, Siri is expected to gain the capability to ask follow-up questions without requiring the user to repeat information.
Apple is also expected to unveil updates to the operating systems that will support its range of devices. The devices will include iOS for iPhones, iPadOS for iPads, and macOS for Macs, among others.
Apple WWDC 2024: Other important updates!
It looks like Gurman also said that the iOS 18 might introduce AI-driven custom emojis, and will increase the current emoji library. Moreover, it will allow users to customise their Home Screen.
Additionally, reports suggest that Apple has secured a collaboration with OpenAI to incorporate its advanced AI technologies, including the ChatGPT conversational chatbot, into Apple’s ecosystem.
