After Apple released the AirTag in early 2021, it seems that ‘reportedly’ they might come up with a new one ‘soon!’  The new version seems to include a new ‘tracker chip’. This might help to get you an improved version of the AirTag’s tracking capability.

The new model ‘AirTag 2’ is expected to feature an upgraded chip and enhanced location tracking capabilities. “Apple is already doing test runs with manufacturing partners in Asia,” according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

What’s the news!

In his latest “Power On” newsletter, Gurman explained that Apple plans to work on the next-generation version of the ‌AirTag‌, codenamed “B589.” Reportedly, Apple is currently completing manufacturing tests. It is believed that the new item tracker is still scheduled to launch around the middle of next year.

So, what will make the new ‘AirTag 2’ different from others? More precise location, more quick identification? Experts suggest that the new ‘AirTag’ might be compatible with Apple’s Vision Pro headset. Reportedly Apple might redesign its new version of AirTag, making it more secure. Early complains suggest that the old AirTag was not safe for children.

Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, noted that “We should get ready for a new AirTag. I mean, it’s not coming overnight, you understand, and Gurman predicts the new version, with the exciting code-name of B589, is scheduled to arrive around the middle of next year.”

Any new plans ahead?

In the last few days, Apple has just released improvements to the current AirTag with iOS 17.5. This might help you to get notification from the trackers that have been improperly following you. Additionally, rumors come in that Apple can add a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip to the iPhone 16 models, so that the future ‌AirTag‌ might feature the same upgraded chip.

From what it is understood, Apple has already been successful in creating a clever tracker that uses the ‘smart features’ of Apple devices. For example, if you lose an AirTag, it enables you to silently contact a nearby Apple device to send a message to you of its location.

Until last week, only AirTags was believed to have made themselves known. Now a much wider range of Bluetooth trackers will be revealed. Now all we have to do is wait for an upgraded version of AirTag!
